An active culture of research has always been in our DNA, despite the demands of routine clinical service. Over the years, we have taken on multiple international industry-sponsored research (ISR), and gained a reputation for consistently turning in good quality data in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines. To date, we have participated in close to 90 clinical trials and registries, among them contemporary landmark studies of ground-breaking novel cardiovascular therapeutics. As for investigator-initiated research, many of our homegrown projects have been selected for presentation at local and international cardiology meetings. We pride ourselves in being a perennial contender for the Young Investigator Award held during the annual scientific meeting of the National Heart Association of Malaysia, lifting the trophy multiple times since its inception; in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and most recently, 2016.

Looking ahead, we aim to take on more collaborative projects with our clinical and academic counterparts, to further push the agenda of research in Sarawak and Malaysia.
